Ursuline’s Athletic Department offers the services of certified athletic trainers (ATC) to ensure the health and wellness of all of our student-athletes. We have partnered with ATI Physical Therapy to have an ATC, who collaborates with physicians and specializes in the prevention, emergency care, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries and sports-related illnesses. An ATC is on campus Monday through Friday after school for practices and at all home games/events. By hosting a local ATC professional, your child’s sports-related injuries or issues are assessed and treated effectively and efficiently, reducing further complications and improving long-term medical outcomes.
Our ATC is present to evaluate any injuries that occur and provide a proper course of action to treat those injuries. Whether it is recommending proper stretches to improve an injury or referring to an appropriate doctor, the ATC treats, diagnoses, provides emergency care, and maintains the safety and well-being of your student-athlete. ATCs must obtain a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from an accredited institution, pass a Board of Certification exam, acquire state licensure, and participate in continuing education hours to maintain certification.
