Lower School Principal
Bio

Since 2020, Samantha Varano has served as the Lower School Principal at Ursuline Academy, leading administrative operations and curriculum development for our Early Childhood program and elementary grades. Having experienced Catholic private schooling as a student herself, she is “at home” at Ursuline, fostering the creative spirits and bright minds of our youngest learners.

Sam began her teaching career as an elementary and middle school teacher in the Boston Public School system, gradually working her way into school leadership. After attending graduate school at the University of Massachusetts, she was hired as an assistant principal for the Boston Public Schools. Sam was appointed school leader in 2015 of a robust and diverse K-8 school after completing a year-long fellowship with cross-sector leaders in Boston College's Lynch Leadership Academy. She is currently pursuing her Ed.D. at the University of Delaware.

In her free time, she enjoys traveling with her family and cheering on Philadelphia sports teams with her sons.
